Who I Am
Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to learn about my mission.
I founded this organization to create historic legislative change for survivors in Oklahoma. Below is an overview of the three bills I am working to pass — all shaped by lived experience, survivor needs, and gaps I personally witnessed in the justice system.
1. Ensuring Fair Investigations Without Physical Evidence
Many survivors are denied criminal prosecution simply because they do not have physical evidence. My first bill aims to change that.
It would establish that a lack of physical evidence alone should not be grounds to automatically decline prosecution.
Survivors deserve the chance for their cases to be evaluated fully and fairly.
2. Requiring Transparency Between Survivors and Legal Authorities
Survivors often have no access to updates, explanations, or clarity about their own cases.
This bill would require transparency between survivors and:
Law enforcement
District Attorneys
The Attorney General’s Office
Because survivors have a right to know how their cases are handled.
3. Reforming Investigations in Officer-Involved Sexual Assault Cases
Currently, when a police officer is accused of sexual assault, the investigation is handled by their own department. Their District Attorney decides whether to prosecute, and their internal affairs unit determines consequences.
This structure creates clear conflicts of interest and potential bias.
My third bill seeks to transfer these investigations away from the officer’s own department to ensure impartiality, fairness, and true accountability.
I am a survivor of sexual assault. I know the pain of wanting justice and being denied it—twice, in my case—because I delayed reporting and had no physical evidence. It’s a lonely, frustrating, and heartbreaking experience, and I want you to know: you are not alone.
StillWeRiseSAS (Still We Rise: Sexual Assault Survivors) is a safe, supportive space where survivors can share their stories, be heard, and take part in creating real legislative change. Together, we can rise, be seen, and make our voices matter.
